Welcome to Poetry Makes Worlds, a site to explore the world-making, world-building potential of words and of poems. As I work primarily on early-medieval south India, the poems and worlds I explore are those composed in Tamil, between the 6th and 9th centuries. I do occasionally discuss other kinds of poetry on my blog. Enjoy.
News FLASH: My translation of the Tiruvāymoḻi just won the Lucien Stryk Asian Translation Prize from the American Translators Association. Read a short post about the prize on my blog here.
